This vacancy is being advertised government-wide and is open to status applicants. This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, Integrated Support Command (ISC), Comptroller Division, Finance Branch, Honolulu, Hawaii.

MAJOR DUTIES:
The incumbent serves as an Accounting Technician in the Budget and Accounting Branch, Comptroller Division, Integrated Support Command, Honolulu performing the following duties: -approves funds available -enters data into the Finance and Procurement Desktop (FPD) -reconciles with the Core Accounting System (CAS) Program Element Status (PES) Report for several program elements -serves as the primary source for accounting systems, reports, and information for the ISC Honolulu Commanding Officer, staff/program managers, unit/field activities and others in the financial and budgeting arena.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
GS- 06- 1 year equivalent to at least GS-05 level Specialized experience includes account maintenance clerical and accounting technician support positions requiring a basic understanding of accounting systems, policies, and procedures in performing or supervising the examination, verification, and maintenance of accounts and accounting data. Also included are positions that perform technical audit functions, develop or install revised accounting procedures, or perform similar quasi-professional accounting work. Positions in this series require a knowledge of existing accounting systems, standard accounting codes, classifications, and terminology; an understanding of agency accounting policies, procedures, and requirements; and the ability to apply various accounting methods, forms and techniques, but less than the broad understanding and theoretical knowledge of accounting acquired through professional education and training.

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. This includes Time-In-Grade requirements for current status employees applying through merit promotion procedures. Status applicants applying for a promotion must have 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade.
